In addition to the Epicore MSR Composite Floor System, the original version of Epicore is also available. The original version of Epicore has a proven track record of over 30 years and two hundred million square feet. In many cases, the linear plank appearance of the original Epicore as well as the integral grid hanging feature may be more desirable.

     Epicore combines the structural advantages of a flat slab with the time and cost saving advantages of a permanent form. Due to the Epicore dovetail rib shape the slab can support greater loading than a typical reinforced concrete slab of the same depth. The shape of the profile inherently provides a simple, economical, and permanent hanging system. The Epicore deck additionally furnishes the total positive reinforcing for the composite slab and serves as a permanent form for the concrete. Depending upon design loads, slab thickness, and amount of reinforcing, Epicore deck can achieve spans up to 27 feet!

     Only Epicore has embossed locking lugs on every other dovetail rib to ensure horizontal mechanical interlocking between the concrete and the deck. These embossments provide superior long-term performance with a greater factor of safety against failure. The embossed locking lugs, and a true 1 ½" top rib width, and tight quality control to ensure the proper profile are some of the reasons Engineers specify the real Epicore deck and allow no substitutions!
