SOUND TRANSMISSION CLASS (STC) RATING

A major advantage of the Epicore MSR Composite Floor System is its Sound Transmission Class rating. It would not be prudent to say any floor system is "soundproof", however with an STC of 54 to 55, the Epicore MSR System provides you with one of the quietest floor systems available. The STC of 54 is achieved with a 6" Epicore slab, carpet and pad on top, and with hat channels and 5/8" drywall ceiling underneath. Please note that the high STC rating is achieved using standard materials that you would use in any residence and does not require expensive additions such as soundboard, resilient channels, insulation in the ceiling, etc. You really can "feel" the quality when you are in an Epicore MSR building when it comes to noise reduction.

Note 1: The "LAB STC" rating is computed according to ASTM Standards E1332-90, E413-87, and E90-97 and is based upon actual tests conducted by an independent testing laboratory.
Note 2: The "FIELD STC" rating is computed by ASTM Standard E336 and E413 and is based upon actual field tests conducted by an independent Acoustical Engineer.
Note 3: The "FIELD IIC" rating is computed by ASTM E1007 and E989 and is based upon actual field tests conducted by an independent Acoustical Engineer.
